hi martin, I have some questions regarding keihins.I have a 72′like yours, it has the
original 1300cc, I’ve also changed the carb(single stromberg), to twin S.U.’s., then
opt for PRI Keihins.my question, are you just running the stock fuel pump., and also,
what are you doing for operating a choke, for those cold mornings ? Thanks’
Wesley.
Hey Wesley,
I’ve blocked off the stock fuel pump on the block and run an electric fuel pump mounted in the rear fender. I’ve put a fuel pressure regulator in the engine bay set at 1 psi, as the carbs would have been gravity-fed on a bike.
I had, at one point, made up a bracket and connected the choke via cable to the stock choke position on the dash, but I was never happy with the operation of it so I’ve removed it and just open the hood to manually open the choke right now. Not an ideal solution, so I’ll probably look at it again, probably with a more flexible cable and a return spring on the choke lever itself.

Martin.
I have a 76 Spitfire 1500. I am installing a Keihin CR29. I had the adaptor made. Question. What do you use to support the Carb at the bottom. The carb is somewhat heavy. Also, what do you do with vacuum hoses and Air Pump? Do you still need it?
Thanks
Rafael.
Martin.
Thanks for your answer regarding the carb support. Would you happen to know what Kehin’s model you are using. The CR29, CR31 o CR33 for your 1500cc engine? Would it really make a difference which is used? The difference is so little. Let me know.
Rafael.
Martin,
I am starting on this conversion for my 1980 Spitfire…these pics are great!
My question is, what kind of Black hose are you using to connect the manifold pipes to the venturis?
Also, as Rafael asked above, is there any special support or do the manifolds and hoses support everything?
THANK You!!
The black hoses are just approx 2″ silicone hose and they do all the supporting of the carbs – no support from below required.
